KOTA KINABALU: To address the changing needs of small and medium enterprises (SME) in the state, Telekom Malaysia Bhd ™ will be staging its SME BizFest in Kota Kinabalu, on May 11.
The company’s Consumer and SME Executive Vice-President, Imri Mokhtar said that, the sixth edition of the pro-business event, with the theme “Innovate to Dominate: Go Digital”, will be introducing the latest in digital and business solutions to local entrepreneurs.
SMEs make up about 36% of Malaysia’s economic output and the figure is set to increase. They are the main driving force in the rapidly developing economies of countries like South Korea and Taiwan in recent decades.
SME-BizFest is an annual nationwide road show the moves from city to city in the country.
“As Malaysia’s telecommunication convergence champion, we are revolutionising the way we talk about smarter living, smarter businesses, smarter cities, smarter communities and smarter nation. This is true to TM’s vision of making life and business easier, and will benefit Malaysian homes and SMEs with a wide range of digital solutions.
“At the exhibition, attendees will find the latest digital and business solutions for improving sales and marketing, boosting productivity and enhancing customer experience while gaining useful tips on growing their business with the right solutions,” said Imri in a recent statement.
She added that the event will also serve as a platform for SME, particularly small-office home-office (SOHO), micro and small business segments, to gain useful business insights to boost their business competitiveness.
There will be activities divided into two components: conference and exhibition. The conference will showcase knowledge-sharing sessions by renowned speakers and experts, covering entrepreneur spirit, technology and digital advances, revolving around topics such as ‘Logistics in the Digital Era,’ ‘The 1,000 Business Model’ and ‘How to Dominate in Online Retail Business.’
Some of the speakers include celebrity entrepreneurs Rozita Che Wan and Fizo Omar, Carsome.my founder Jiun Teoh, Facebook Malaysia marketing head Jon Day and Modvier founder Sarah Shah Nor.
In conjunction with the fest, SMEs are entitled to an exclusive package comprising high-speed broadband connectivity, and ICT value-added solutions with savings of more than RM2,000 through the SME BizFest Campaign promotion.
SME BizFest 2017 is endorsed by SME Corporation of Malaysia and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), with Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd as the Platinum Partner and JomPay (MyClear) as the Silver Partner while official supporters are SME Association of Malaysia, MARA and SSM.
“SME BizFest 2017 is in line with our effort towards building a smarter nation as we showcase the best digital options for SME to embrace and grow their businesses,” said Imri.
About 6,000 visitors are expected this year. Entrance is free.
Visitors will receive freebies upon subscribing to any TM products and services during the event. Early birds stand a chance to win premium seats at the conference along with interesting prizes while exhibitors will receive special promo rates for early bookings or if they intend to participate in more than one event venue.
Imri said that SME is one of the fastest growing economic sectors in the country, and TM believes that adopting the digital technology is pivotal to the sector’s ability to compete.
